Goodreads alternatives and companions
Best Book Tracker Apps editors · Data refreshed 14 October 2026 · Editorial assessment
We list seven other trackers alphabetically, with no scores. The StoryGraph imports your Goodreads shelves and has the deepest stats; Literal is free with no ads and imports straight from your profile; Hardcover publishes an API for your data. Six of the seven apps below publish a way to bring in your Goodreads history; Basmo imports Kindle highlights instead.
Why do readers leave Goodreads?
Three reasons come up most. Stats: Goodreads offers the Reading Challenge and Year in Books, but few charts. Data: Goodreads has been owned by Amazon since 2013, and its public API stopped issuing new keys in December 2020. Features: newer apps add half-star ratings, did-not-finish shelves, content warnings and spoiler-aware discussion. The reason to stay is the community, which is still the largest.

How do you move your Goodreads library?
- Export your library from Goodreads (it produces a CSV file) and keep a copy.
- In the new app, find the import option: StoryGraph and Hardcover list it in their import settings, Fable in profile settings, Literal on its Goodreads import page.
- Import, then spot-check ratings, dates and custom shelves.
- Leave your Goodreads account in place until you are happy with the move.
